Oct 28 | Women's Cross Country
LINCOLN, Neb. – Sophomore Olympia Martin led the Scarlet Knight pack, while junior Lou Mialhe and sophomore Kaitlyn Bragen both picked up new personal bests at the 2018 Big Ten Women's Cross Country Championships on Sunday hosted by the University of Nebraska.
Martin led all Rutgers harriers for the fifth-straight race this season. The Ridgewood, New Jersey product was the top RU runner over the finish line, clocking in at 21:47.4.
Mialhe posted her third-straight PR as the second Rutgers harrier to finish. The Princeton, New Jersey native finished in 22:12.7, taking four seconds off her previous best set the Penn State National Open two weeks ago.
Bragen also posted a new top time with a finish of 22:38.1, her best finish since her first appearance as a Scarlet Knight at the 2017 opener at the Lehigh Invitational with a time of 23:01.71
"We had a few ladies that really stepped up in this race today," said head coach James Robinson. "We also had a couple that didn't run quite as well. At this point in the championship season, we need everyone to click on the same day in order to accomplish our team goals. Hopefully, they can put a complete team race together at NCAA Regionals in two weeks."
Michigan won the conference title for the third-straight season, with Michigan State placing second and Wisconsin with a third place showing. Rutgers took 13th overall finishing ahead of Maryland in the standings.
