PISCATAWAY – Rutgers (13-16, 3-13) plays its final conference road game of the regular season, when it travels to Columbus to meet No. 16/15 Ohio State (22-7, 13-3) in a 7 p.m. (ET) tip-off on Tuesday night at Value City Arena. The Buckeyes are one of five home-and-home match-ups for RU, along with No. 2/1 Michigan State, No. 9/9 Purdue, Nebraska and Illinois. The Buckeyes, Spartans, Boilermakers and Huskers have all achieved 20 victories, have a combined 92-24 (51-13 Big Ten) record, and currently occupy the top four positions in the league standings. The Scarlet Knights have the most difficult conference schedule in the Big Ten according to Ken Pom analysis.  RU has the opportunity to defeat a ranked team on the road for the first time since downing No. 13 Pittsburgh, 77-64, on Jan. 26, 2008. 

Rutgers is 11th nationally in offensive rebounding (13.59), 12th in scoring defense (63.6), 19th in rebounding (39.55) and 28th in FG% defense (40.6). The Scarlet Knights are 17th nationally in adjusted defensive efficiency per Ken Pom.

The game will be televised live on BTN with Lisa Byington calling the action and Robbie Hummel providing the commentary. On the radio, the contest will be broadcast live on the Rutgers IMG Sports Network, WOR 710 AM in New York and WCTC 1450 AM in New Brunswick. Jerry Recco will serve as play-by-play announcer and Joe Boylan will provide commentary. WRSU (88.7 FM) will also broadcast the game.

Rutgers and Ohio State have met seven times, with the Buckeyes holding a 5-2 series advantage. On Jan. 14, Geo Baker scored 14 points and Corey Sanders add 13, but RU could not overcome its 28.8 percent shooting in a 68-46 loss to OSU at the RAC. Despite the defeat, the Scarlet Knights committed just five turnovers, their fewest ever in a Big Ten game. Rutgers' last victory in the series was a 66-57 Big Ten Tournament win in Washington, D.C. last season, RU's first postseason league win. The Buckeyes are 2-0 at home versus the Scarlet Knights.

Rutgers battled back from a 24-point deficit to draw to within seven in the final minutes, but could not complete the comeback in a 61-51 loss at Maryland on Saturday evening. Eugene Omoruyi scored nine of his 11 points after the break for a persistent Scarlet Knights team that out-rebounded the Terrapins 34-30. Deshawn Freeman came off the bench to grab a team-high 10 rebounds, while Omoruyi contributed six boards in his second consecutive start after returning from injury. The Scarlet Knights received a boost via a 19-5 advantage in bench points, but were unable to compensate for their 15.8 percent (22-of-58) shooting from behind the arc.

Ohio State is No. 1 nationally for the most home wins since 2009-10 with a 149-24 (.861) record. Tuesday night will mark the final home, regular season game for seniors Andrew Dakich, Keita Bates-Diop, Kam Williams and Jae'Sean Tate. Tate had 20 points and a career-high 15 rebounds, while Bates-Diop went for 17 points and seven boards in a 74-62 loss at Michigan on Sunday. Bates-Diop was selected to the Naismith Trophy Late Season Watch as well as the John R. Wooden Midseason Watch List. He is one of 20 players who remain in the running for the Wooden Award and among the final 30 for the Naismith Trophy.
