Women's Basketball Welcomes No. 13/14 Michigan in Sunday Showdown

Scarlet Knights & Wolverines Tipoff at 2 p.m.
PISCATAWAY, N.J. - The Scarlet Knights are back at the RAC to host No. 13/14 Michigan on Super Bowl Sunday at 2 p.m. The Wolverines are the second-straight top 25 opponent for RU. The game will be streamed on BTN Plus with Lou Brogno and Jared Smith with radio coverage on the Rutgers IMG Radio Network with Ralph Bednarczyk and Mark Peterson on the call.

Rutgers is looking to get back on track after dropping three-straight, including Thursday night's setback at league leading No. 11/10 Maryland. The Scarlet Knights were unable to overcome the Terrapins hot hand as Maryland shot a blistering 59.3 percent (32-of-54) from the field, including an 83.3% (10-of-12) fourth quarter.
Junior guard Khadaizha Sanders was the lone Scarlet Knight in double figures as she led RU with 12 points. Graduate student guard. Junior forward Caitlin Jenkins came off the bench for eight points and eight rebounds.
Redshirt senior guard Tyler Scaife, who was named to the Dawn Staley and Ann Meyers Drysdale Watch Lists earlier this week, was held to a season-low six points.
ABOUT MICHIGAN
Like the Scarlet Knights, the Wolverines are looking to return to the win column following a loss on Thursday night. Michigan fell 81-79 in overtime at home to Purdue. The loss snapped a six-game win streak for the Wolverines as they fell to 19-5 overall and 8-3 in the Big Ten.
Thursday night's game with the Boilermakers was close, but Michigan is second in the Big Ten in scoring margin, winning games by an average of 16.1 points per game. Additionally, the Wolverines lead the league in rebounding margin (+9.5) and are second league-wise in field goal percentage (.482) and 3-point field goal percentage (.391)
Michigan is led by the nation's second-active leading scorer and the Wolverine's all-time points leader (men or women) in senior guard Katelynn Flaherty. Flaherty is third in the conference and fifth nationally averaging 23.5 points per game.
Second on the stat sheet is junior center Hallie Thomas at 16.8 points per contest along with a team-leading 7.6 rebounds per contest.
Rounding out the Wolverine double figure scorers is junior guard Nicole Munger at 10.3 points per game.
TOP DEFENSES
Rutgers and Michigan are the Big Ten's two top defenses with the Scarlet Knights allowing a league low 57.1 points per game. The Wolverines, meanwhile, are only allowing opponents 61.0 points per contest.
STRINGER MILESTONE NUMBERS TO REMEMBER
Rutgers head coach Stringer has compiled a 994-397 career record in 47 seasons and is six wins away from joining the elite 1,000 career victories club in women's basketball.
Stringer's 34 20-win seasons are second-best in women's basketball history. Former Tennessee head coach Pat Summit leads all coaches with 36 20-win seasons.
