Men's Cross Country Named USTFCCCA All-Academic Team

PISCATAWAY, N.J. –The Rutgers men's cross country team was named a U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic Team for the 2017 season, it was announced Friday.
"This recognition shows the great commitment our team, along with our academic support system, has towards its academic success and its athletic success," said head coach Mike Mulqueen. "They were able to win a Metropolitan Championship, place fourth at the IC4As and 13th in their NCAA region while keeping their academics at a high level."
The Scarlet Knights posted a 3.47 team grade point average to earn the recognition, marking the highest team GPA among Big Ten programs represented on the list. To qualify for the honor, teams must carry at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.
The members of the team include Genaro Anzalone, Trent Brinkofski, Andrew Comito, Ryan Gross, Billy Hill, Tom Holster, Alexander Livernois, Sean Martinek, Dom Munson, Conor Murphy, Alex Pai, Cole Pschunder, Patrick Walsh, and Luke Wiley.
Rutgers continues to excel in the classroom, as nine Scarlet Knights were also placed on the Fall 2017 Academic All-Big Ten list for achieving an individual GPA of 3.0 or higher in at least their second-year at the institution. The honorees included Brinkofski, Comito, Gross, Livernois, Martinek, Munson, Murphy, Pschunder and Wiley.
