Mar 29 | Women's Golf
PISCATAWAY - Women's golf takes flight for the Grand Canyon State to compete in the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic, April 2-3, at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa, Ariz. The Scarlet Knights are the lone East Coast program at the 20-team tournament, which is the fourth of six events on the spring schedule.
Senior Emily Mills, redshirt junior Ashleigh Greenham, sophomores Ana Cortes and Carrie Ann Lee, and freshman Harriet Allsebrook comprise the travel party. Greenham will return to Arizona after competing in the Pac 12 Conference at Arizona State as a true freshman in 2014-15.
Joining the Scarlet Knights on the par 72, 6,131-yard course will be host Wyoming, Boise State, Cal State Northridge, Eastern Washington, Gonzaga, Montana, Montana State, Nevada, New Mexico State, Northern Arizona, Portland State, Sam Houston State, San Francisco, Santa Clara, Seattle, Southern Utah, Sacramento State, UT Arlington and UTEP.
Rutgers is coming off an 11th place finish at the 33rd Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational, played March 13-14 in challenging conditions, at the Kane'ohe Klipper Golf Course on Marines Corps Base Hawai'i. Mills carded a 232 (78-79-75) to pace the team in a tournament featuring five programs ranked among the Golfweek Top 50.
Sprawled across 320 acres of the Ak-Chin Indian Reservation, Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club provides uninhibited, 360-degree views of Arizona's magnificent desert expanse. Sculpted by the master architects of Schmidt-Curley Design, Inc., with the help of golf legend Fred Couples, Ak-Chin Southern Dunes' creative routing, native grasses and rugged, unbridled landforms pay tribute to the game's great links-land courses.
After a practice round on Sunday, thirty-six holes will be played on Monday, with an additional 18 to be contested on Tuesday. Each day's competition will begin via an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start local time. Live scoring is available via golfstat.
