PISCATAWAY, N.J. – In the third tennis installment of "Know Your Knights," learn more about freshman Maya Jacobs. The Linden, New Jersey, native continues to make a statement in her rookie season, owning seven singles victories in duals which includes two over ranked Big Ten opponents.

If I wasn't playing (sport), I'd be: Working in the fashion industry

I started playing (sport) because…: A man started giving me lessons at my local park when I was 12
I chose Rutgers because…: I wanted to be apart of the new direction that Rutgers Athletics was (and is) going in.
Favorite cereal: I don't really like cereal but I like Banana Maple and Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal.
Favorite movie: The Dark Knight
The best actor/actress to play me in a movie is…: Yara Shahidi
Favorite musician/group: Bruno Mars
The first song I knew all the words to was…: Sweet Love by Anita Baker and I.O.U by Freeze
Rituals I have before, during or after an event are…: I listen to a special playlist to get focused and pumped up.
Favorite all-time Christmas/holiday present: One year my iPod touch got stolen in about February. Then my parents surprised me with a new one on Christmas and I was so surprised that I cried. It was even more surprising because they hid it in a sneaker box filled with things I liked like Sims 3 and jewelry.
Languages spoken (other than English): Im currently learning ASL
If I didn't have to sleep, I would do this with my extra time…: Watch novellas to practice my Spanish
