Women's Soccer Draws with Saint Joseph's

Scarlet Knights move to 2-0-1 on the season

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers women's soccer (2-0-1) recorded a 1-1, double overtime draw with Saint Joseph's (2-0-1) on Thursday evening at Yurcak Field. Junior back Amanda Visco scored the equalizer off a corner kick from senior back Kenie Wright to keep the Scarlet Knights unbeaten on the season.



QUICK STATS
Visco registered her first goal of the season and third of her career, while Wright added an assist for the third consecutive contest. Overall, RU led SJU in shots 12-3 and in corners 7-3.

The Hawks' Mackenzie Ehresman scored the first goal of the contest, as goalkeeper Grace Bendon registered two saves in the tie.
 
THE MATCH
Following a 40-minute stalemate that saw RU leading in shots 2-1, SJU scored the first goal of the match in the 41st minute. Paige Bergman took a free kick from 20-yards out to set up a Ehresman header for a 1-0 Hawks edge.
 
 
In the 66th minute, Wright sent in a corner kick that Visco would guide to the back of the net to tie the match, 1-1.

Rutgers would lead Saint Joseph's 3-0 in shots across the two overtime stanzas, but the match would ultimately end in a draw.

KNIGHT NOTES 
  • RU moved to 104-18-15 at Yurcak Field dating back to the 2006 season. 
  • The Scarlet Knights are 52-6-5 against nonconference foes "On the Banks," dating back to 2007 and including the postseason. 
  • Five different Scarlet Knights have contributed a goal in the first three matches of the year. 
  • Wright has recorded an assist in three straight matches to open the season. 
  • Shea Holland registered her first career start in the match.
