BERKELEY, Calif. (Aug. 25, 2018) – Rutgers volleyball dropped its Molten Classic finale on Saturday to Chicago State in straight sets at Cal's Haas Pavilion.

STANDOUT STATS
- Sophomore right side Beka Kojadinovic picked up her second career double-double with 11 kills and 12 digs to go with four blocks.
- Junior middle Jasmine Stackhouse produced a career-high 11 kills to tie for the team lead, adding a match-best five blocks and hitting at a .421 clip on 19 total swings.
- Freshman setter Inna Balyko handed out 38 assists and got her second double-double of her debut weekend with a team-high 13 digs.
KNIGHT NOTES
- Stackhouse matched her career-high in kills (8) at the end of the second set, aided by seven in the second, in which she hit .667 on nine total swings.
- Freshman Anastasiya Kudryashova recorded her first collegiate kill, bouncing a ball for the second point in the second set. The rookie finished with seven kills and two blocks in her second career appearance.
- There were a total of seven set-points saved in the marathon second set, four by Rutgers and three by Chicago State.
- Chicago State claims the first meeting between the two sides.
- Rutgers outblocked an opponent (7.5-7.0) for the third straight game to start the season.
THE MOMENTS
- Set 1 | Kojadinovic led the offense in the opener with four kills, and energized a 7-2 run to cut deficit to 14-12 midway through the set with a pair of kills and a block assist.
- Set 2 | Following a 4-0 Cougars run, Rutgers trailed 19-15 late in the set before putting together a 10-3 stint to claim set-point at 24-22 behind Kudryashova's back-to-back kills. Chicago State saved three set-points to set up a back-and-forth battle down the stretch, which ended in the Cougars' favor with a kill and a block.
- Set 3 | Junior middle Stasa Miljevic had a block and a kill during a 4-1 run to tie the set at 15-15, but the Cougars won the final six points of the set to complete the sweep.
UP NEXT
Rutgers enters its second tournament of the year during Labor Day weekend, Aug. 31 and Sept. 1. Lehigh and Lafayette host the Crosstown Tournament with Rutgers playing Copping State and Lehigh in Bethlehem, Pa. on Friday, then Lafayette and Rider in Easton, Pa. on Saturday.
