Men's Cross Country Announces 2018 Schedule

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers men's cross country has announced is 2018 schedule. The slate features three invitational meets set to prepare the Scarlet Knights for the Big Ten and NCAA Championships later this fall.

"We are going to stay local and run in some smaller, low key meets. Then, we will not race for a month, just train," said head coach Mike Mulqueen. "We graduated three seniors and have a lot of new people on the team. I wanted to give them a chance to get acclimated to college running without throwing them into big races early in their careers. The freshmen run five mile races in college, which is considerably different than the 3.1 mile races from high school."

Rutgers opens the campaign on Saturday, Sept. 8 at the Fordham Fiasco. The invite will take place at the renowned Van Cortlandt Park in Bronx, New York.

The Scarlet Knights return to the Bronx for its following two races, including the Iona College Meet of Champions on Friday, Sept. 14 and the Metropolitan Championships on Friday, Oct. 12.

The 2018 Big Ten Cross Country Championship are set for Sunday, Oct. 28 and will be hosted at the University of Nebraska.

Championship season continues on Friday, Nov. 9 with the NCAA District Championships at Penn State, followed by the NCAA Division I Championships and IC4A Championships taking place on the same day on Saturday, Nov. 17. Nationals will be hosted at Wisconsin's Zimmer Championship Course, while the IC4A's will take place at the 8,000-meter course at Van Cortlandt Park.
