PISCATAWAY - The Big Ten Conference announced its 2018-19 women's golf preseason honorees on Wednesday, with graduate student Ashleigh Greenham, junior Carrie-Ann Lee and sophomore Harriet Allsebrook earning recognition. It marks the third consecutive season that Greenham has received the honor and the second occasion for Lee.
The Scarlet Knights begin their season at the Minnesota Invitational, September 10-11, at Prestwick Golf Club. The event is the first of five tournaments on the fall schedule.
"We are all really excited about getting our season started," said head coach Kari Williams. "Carrie-Ann and Harriet are looking to build on their momentum from last spring and have worked hard over the summer to sharpen their games. Ash played some good golf for us last year and is ready to cap off her career at Rutgers with another great season."
A two-time team co-captain, Greenham, has a 77.31 stroke average and four top 5 finishes over 20 tournaments competing for the Scarlet Knights after transferring from Arizona State. In 2017-18, she was runner-up at the Rutgers Invitational and shot a program-record 66 in the second round to place fourth at the Kansas State Marilynn Smith Invitational. A 2017-18 Big Ten Conference Distinguished Scholar and two time WGCA All-America Scholar, she earned a psychology degree in May.
Lee had a 77.19 stroke average during her sophomore campaign. She carded a collegiate-low 70 this past spring at UNCW's River Landing Classic after placing tied for 20th at the Nittany Lion Invitational in the fall. Lee was recognized as both a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and a WGCA All-America Scholar in 2017-18 as a supply chain and marketing science major.
Allsebrook made an immediate impact as a rookie last season, totaling 75 birdies to place second in the RU single-season records. Her 76.81 scoring average ranks as the sixth-best in program history. Also a WGCA All-America Scholar, she opened her collegiate career with an eighth place finish at the Rutgers Invitational.
The Scarlet Knights are coming off another strong campaign under Williams. Last season, the Scarlet Knights ranked 115th in the nation with a 304.88 scoring average to establish a new program record. Women's golf also earned the Top Team Grade Point Average at the RAwards for the third consecutive year and received the Rutgers Leadership Academy (RLA) Team Cup Award for its efforts in the community.
