Volleyball Sweeps Lafayette & Rider

Offense explodes for 91 kills on Saturday without dropping a set

EASTON, Pa. (Sept. 1, 2018) – Rutgers volleyball earned a pair of sweeps over Lafayette and Rider on Saturday to finish the Crosstown Tournament with a 3-1 record.

"Going 3-1 on the weekend feels good," head coach CJ Werneke said. "We're continuing to learn about ourselves, figuring out our strengths, and playing to those strengths. I'm most proud of us coming together as a team; celebrating when things go well, and holding each other accountable from teammate-to-teammate. That's a sign of development and investment, which good teams always need.

"Anastasiia Maksimova was asked to do a lot this weekend, and responded well," Werneke said on his freshman outside hitter. "She's doing all the things right that don't show up in a box score; passing, setting up the block and positioning."
