PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers women's soccer kicks off a three-game Big Ten road swing at Maryland on Saturday, Sept. 23. Match time is set for 2 p.m. ET in College Park, Maryland.
RUTGERS QUICK KICKS
- Rutgers (5-1-3, 1-0-1) opened league action two double-overtime matches, including a 1-1 draw with Nebraska and a 2-1 victory over Iowa.
- With 11 seconds left in overtime, junior midfielder Nicole Whitley made an incredible play off a Kenie Wright service from midfield. This set up sophomore Amirah Ali's game winner, her sixth goal of the season.
- Senior midfielder Taylor Aylmer scored the equalizer in the Big Ten opener with Nebraska, marking the 10th different Scarlet Knight to contribute a goal this season.
- Whitley leads the conference and is tied for fifth in the NCAA with six assists.
- Ali is tied for first in the league with her six goals.
- Rutgers at Maryland will be the Scarlet Knights' second road contest of the season and first Big Ten match on the road this year.
SCOUTING MARYLAND
- Maryland (3-4-3, 1-1-0) split its weekend matches, earning a 4-0 victory over Iowa and dropping a 2-1, overtime match to Nebraska.
- Jarena Harmon leads the Terrapins with five goals on the year.
- In net, Rachel Egyed has seen the most time, maintaining a 0.84 GAA with 43 saves and three shutouts.
- Dating back to 1989, UMD holds a 6-4-1 lead in the all-time series. As conference foes, RU owns a 3-1 lead in league matchups.
- Last season, the Scarlet Knights claimed a 2-0 victory at home against the Terps.
