Women's Track Set To Defend Metropolitan Indoor Title

Scarlet Knights Compete Friday At Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Rutgers women's track & field team will compete at the 2019 Metropolitan Championship that will take place on Friday February 1st at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, New York.
LAST TIME AT THE METROPOLITAN CHAMPIONSHIPS:
The Rutgers women's track and field team was crowned the Metropolitan Indoor Champion thanks to its four events victories and 171 points.
SCARLET KNIGHTS TO WATCH:
Oniesha Clarke:
Senior Oniesha Clarke earned two titles at this event last year, winning the 60m (7.52) and long jump, setting a new PR at 5.90m (19' 4.25"). This season, Clarke won 60m title at UPenn 8- Team Select (7.64). Last week, at Terrier Classic, she landed third in the finals of 60m (7.64).
Courteney Campbell:
Sophomore Courteney Campbell won the high jump title last year at the Metropolitan Championships. She cleared the bar at 1.65m (5'5"). She finished fourth last week at Terrier Classic at a ECAC qualifying height of 1.70 (5'7").
Olympia Martin:
Sophomore Olympia Martin obtained a new PR in the 3000m last week at the Terrier Classic with an ECAC qualifying time of 9:44.23. It was the fifth fastest time in Rutgers record books. Last year at the Metropolitan Indoor Championship, she was the runner-up in the 5000m with a time of 17.24.82.
Phyllis Gordon:
Senior Phyllis Gordon took fourth in the 500m last year at the Metropolitan Championships (1:15.41). This year, she won the event at the TCNJ Lions Invite with an ECAC qualifying time of 1:15.77.
Rhonda Rogombe:
Redshirt junior Rhonda Rogombe cleared an ECAC qualifying height of 1.70m (5'7") last week placing third in High Jump. Earlier this year, she won the TCNJ Lions Invite event with a height of 1.65 (5'5").
