PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers football closes out the non-conference portion of its schedule with a Saturday matchup against Liberty at SHI Stadium. Kickoff is set for noon. As part of the year-long celebration of the 150
th anniversary of the first college football game played, the week will celebrate the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s.

The Scarlet Knights held No. 20 Minnesota to two touchdowns in the first half, but the Golden Gophers pulled away to win, 42-7, last Saturday at SHI Stadium. It was the 86
th annual Homecoming game at Rutgers.

Redshirt freshman
Deion Jennings led RU with three tackles-for-loss in his first collegiate start, the first such output by a Scarlet Knight since Quentin Gause at No. 17 UCF in 2013. Sophomore
Olakunle Fatukasi totaled a game-high 13 tackles, while junior
Tyshon Fogg reached double-digit stops for the fourth time with 11 against the Golden Gophers. Fogg enters the week ranked 21
st nationally and second in the league with 9.7 tackles per game.

On offense, freshman
Kay'Ron Adams scored his first touchdown on a 5-yard rush in the fourth quarter, which was setup by a career-long run of 40 yards by sophomore
Elijah Barnwell. Sophomore
Isaih Pacheco added 50 yards on the ground and is up to 985 collegiate rushing yards.

Redshirt freshman
Johnny Langan has started the last three games at quarterback, collecting 303 yards of total offense overall this season.

Junior
Adam Korsak has pinned 22-of-46 attempts inside the 20-yard line this season, helping Rutgers to a net punt of 42.96 to rank 11
th nationally. The Australian has won the Ray Guy Award Punter of the Week three times in 2019.

The Flames fell to Syracuse and Louisiana to start the season before topping Buffalo, Hampton, New Mexico, New Mexico State and Maine to enter the week on a five-game winning streak. Most recently against the Black Bears, the game featured a combined 1,059 yards of total offense with Liberty scoring 14 points off turnovers. Quarterback Stephen Calvert went 23-for-35 for 351 passing yards and owns 15 touchdowns this season. The defense ranks ninth in the nation in red zone defense.

The program is in its second year playing at the FBS level and is led by first-year head coach Hugh Freeze.
Saturday will mark the first all-time meeting between Rutgers and Liberty. The Scarlet Knights are 104-67-1 all-time when playing a team for the first time, with victories the last two occasions (2018 Texas State, 2017 Purdue).
