Gymnastics Releases 2020 Schedule

PISCATAWAY, N.J. –  Rutgers gymnastics has unveiled its schedule for the upcoming 2020 season, which includes four home meets and eight away competitions. Under the guidance of head coach Umme Salim-Beasley, the Scarlet Knights look carry its momentum from a strong 2019 campaign that saw RU recognized as the most improved team with a first year head coach by College Gym News.

"We talk about being able to build off of our foundation from last year," said Salim-Beasley. "This year's schedule is definitely going to be a challenging one, where we are coming up against some opponents that we haven't competed against that are top 10, top 15 programs.

"It'll be nice to see what we will be able to accomplish competing against ranked teams. This year is going to be a season for us to really stretch our wings a little bit and see what our student-athletes are capable of doing since they have settled in from last year."

Rutgers begins the year on Jan. 11 with a quad meet on the road at Arizona featuring Iowa State and Western Michigan. The Scarlet Knights then return to the RAC on Jan. 18 for its home opener with Minnesota, Bowling Green and Ursinus.

The following RAC meets include duels with Michigan State (Feb. 8) and Yale (March 13). Rutgers will also have a home meet at the historic College Avenue Gym this season on March 6, hosting West Chester, Southern Connecticut State and Cornell.

The Scarlet Knights are slated for four duel matchups on the road, including Michigan (Jan. 24), UPenn (Jan. 26), Penn State (Jan. 31) and Maryland (Feb. 16). The remaining road matches are to West Virginia for a tri-meet with Pittsburgh (March 1) and a quad-meet at New Hampshire with Auburn and Central Michigan.

The Big Ten qualifying meet Big Five meet will take place on Feb. 2 at the neutral site of Huntington Center in Toledo, Ohio. Ohio State hosts the 2020 Big Ten Championships on March 21.
