THE FIVE THINGS TO KNOW
- Rutgers hosted a topping off ceremony to celebrate and symbolize the placement of the final piece of structural steel in the construction of the Gary and Barbara Rodkin Academic Success Center on Saturday prior to the football game against Maryland at SHI Stadium.
- Women's basketball head coach C. Vivian Stringer will receive the John R. Wooden Award's "Legends of Coaching" honor which will be presented during the sixth annual ESPN College Basketball Awards on April 10, 2020 in Los Angeles.
- Rutgers Athletics has announced single game and single match ticket information for men's basketball, women's basketball and wrestling for the 2019-20 season.
- Both men's and women's soccer were honored as 2018-19 United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award recipients. RU was one of 255 schools to have both its men's and women's programs recognized.
- Rutgers Athletics hosted a "Knock Out Opioid Abuse" Town Hall at the RAC on Friday sponsored by Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey and the Partnership for a Drug Free New Jersey that featured panelists John J. Hoffman, Ray Lucas and Greg Vetrone.

- This past week's Slice of Knightlife focused upon interim head football coach Nunzio Campanile and women's golf's record-breaking weekend in Kentucky. The second full episode of Knightlife will be distributed this week.
Football (1-4, 0-3)
- Travels to Indiana for its third Big Ten road game of the season on Saturday (12 noon | BTN). RVision: Nunzio Campanile Game-week presser | Andy Buh Game week presser)
- Announced a 3:30 p.m. kickoff for the annual Homecoming game on Oct. 19 against Minnesota on BTN.

RV/21 Women's Soccer (9-2-1, 3-2-0)
- Hits the road for Big Ten matchups at Iowa on Friday (8 p.m. | BTN Plus) and Nebraska on Sunday (2 p.m. | BTN Plus).
- Went 2-0 in conference action on the weekend with a wins over Penn State and Northwestern.
- Defeated PSU on the road, 3-2 in double overtime as Brittany LaPlant recorded a goal and an assist.
- Shut out NU, 2-0, at home with goals from Nneka Moneme and LaPlant, marking RU's seventh clean sheet of the season.
- Earned its ninth straight United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award, with a 3.21 team GPA in 2018-19.
Men's Soccer (6-3-2, 0-3-1)
- Returns to the pitch on Friday against Wisconsin (7 p.m. | BTN Plus)
- Dropped a pair of Big Ten matches with a 3-1 loss to defending national champion Maryland and a 1-0 setback against Ohio State.
- Jackson Temple and Pablo Avila are tied a top the Big Ten stats with two game-winning goals this season.
- Was honored with the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the sixth-straight season.
No. 18 Field Hockey (5-5, 0-2)
- Returns home to host Indiana on Friday (3 p.m. | BTN Plus) and Northwestern on Sunday (2 p.m. | BTN).
- Is raising money for the Vs. Cancer Foundation as part of the team's Cancer Awareness Game on Sunday.
- Split a two-game trip to Iowa City, defeating UC Davis 1-0 on Saturday on a goal from freshman Rachel Houston after being edged 2-1 on Friday by No. 7 Iowa.
Volleyball (6-9, 0-4)
- Hosts a Big Ten weekend against Ohio State on Friday (7 p.m.) and Maryland on Saturday (7 p.m. | BTN Plus) at the College Ave. Gym.
- Took a set off a Top 10 team for the first time since 2014 at No. 7 Minnesota on Saturday before falling in four.
- Posted 13 blocks at Minnesota to move into 20th in the nation in team blocks per set at 2.64.
Women's Golf
- Travels to Washington to compete in the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational, Tuesday and Wednesday, at Sahalee Country Club.
- Competing at the Fighting Irish Classic, today and tomorrow, in South Bend, Indiana.
- Compete at the 2019 Metropolitan Championships on Friday, Oct. 11, at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y.
- Head Coach Steve Pikiell and student-athletes Geo Baker, Shaq Carter and Ron Harper Jr. represented the program at Big Ten Conference Media Day in Rosemont, Ill.
Women's Basketball

Swimming & Diving
- Opens its season hosting the Rutgers Preseason Tune-up on Friday (5 p.m.) and Saturday (9 a.m.) at the Rutgers Aquatic Center against Princeton, Rider and Seton Hall.
- Introduced eight newcomers to the 2019-20 roster, including an Olympian, a three-time European Championships gold medalist, and two high school All-Americans.
Women's Lacrosse
- Announced its 13-player freshman class. The group consists of eight players from New Jersey, two from Virginia and one each from Florida, New York and Pennsylvania.
Men's Lacrosse
- Raised $15,000 for the St. Louis Children's Hospital in conjunction with their scrimmage against Georgetown last weekend.
- Will raise money for the Vs. Cancer Foundation in tandem with the tri-scrimmage this weekend vs. UMass and Hobart in Toronto.
- Announced the winners of its 2019 team awards.
