WHAT TO KNOW
⢠Under the guidance of reigning Dan Gable and NCAA Tournament Coach of the Year Scott Goodale, Rutgers wrestling is coming off an historic 2018-19 campaign which was capped by the program's first individual NCAA titles from Anthony Ashnault and Nick Suriano, as well as its first Top 10 finish at the national tournament.
⢠Suriano, who finished last season 29-3 with NCAA and Big Ten titles at 133 pounds, will begin this season in redshirt as he continues to train for a run at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
⢠Excluding Suriano, Rutgers returns four wrestlers with NCAA Championships experience - Matthew Correnti, Joseph Grello, Peter Lipari, and Jordan Pagano. Grello and Lipari qualified last year, while Correnti and Pagano competed at NCAA's in 2017.
⢠Four wrestlers appear in preseason rankings - Grello, Lipari, JoJo Aragona and Christian Colucci.
⢠The Scarlet Knights went 12-6 last season in dual action, which included a 5-4 mark within the Big Ten Conference.
⢠RU is scheduled for four varsity events in November, including road duals at Fresno State (Nov. 15) and CSU Bakersfield (Nov. 16), followed by the Navy Classic (Nov. 23) in Annapolis.
