#21/13 Women's Soccer Bows Out of NCAA Tournament with Heartbreaking Loss

PISCATAWAY, N.J. –  No. 21/13 Rutgers women's soccer bowed out of the NCAA Tournament on Friday night at Yurcak Field. The Scarlet Knights dropped a heartbreaking, 1-0 decision to NEC Champion Central Connecticut State as a cross found the back of the net in the 88th minute.

"We did more than enough to win the match, but soccer was cruel to us tonight. CCSU's keeper made some great saves and sometimes that's the way the game goes," said Head Coach Mike O'Neill. "Tonight, that's the way it went for us. We wish the CCSU coaching staff and student-athletes the best of luck.

"The goal when a student-athlete comes to Rutgers University is that, by the time they leave, the women's soccer program and the University are both better because they were here. Every one of our seniors have accomplished that and so much more. I am so proud of them and all they have achieved in the classroom and on the field. I want to thank them so much for everything that they have done for the program, their hard work, dedication and the memories they have created both on and off the field. They will be missed, but they will forever be part of the Rutgers women's soccer family."
