PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers football (2-8, 0-7) was stumped by undefeated No. 2 Ohio State (10-0, 7-0) by a 56-21 final score on Saturday afternoon at SHI Stadium. The game, presented by RWJBarnabas Health, marked Military Appreciation Day for the Scarlet Knights, as they honored the service men and women who have protected our freedom.
Redshirt freshman quarterback
Johnny Langan went 12-of-26 for 121 yards in the air, including a passing touchdown and a 1-yard rushing touchdown. Junior wide receiver
Bo Melton reeled in the 45-yard touchdown reception. Sophomore running back
Isaih Pacheco added RU's first score as a 26-yard rushing touchdown, totaling 50 yards on the ground. Freshman running back
Aaron Young led the team with 88 all-purpose yards.

Christian Izien registered a team-high 11 tackles. Junior defensive back
Tre Avery notched a strip sack, while junior linebacker
Olakunle Fatukasi recovered the fumble on the play. On special teams, junior defensive back
Lawrence Stevens recovered a fumble on a punt return to set up RU's first score of the day.

Rutgers hosts Michigan State on Saturday, Nov. 23 for its final home game of the year. Kickoff is set for noon ET on FS1.

NOTES
- Rutgers scored 21 points, its most in six meetings against Ohio State. The 21 points tied the most allowed by the Buckeyes this season, while the three touchdowns scored by the Scarlet Knights marked the most surrendered by OSU so far in 2019. Ohio State entered the week as the top ranked scoring defense in the country.
- The 21 points were the most by RU versus a ranked opponent since posting 24 against No. 4 Michigan State in 2015.
- RB Isaih Pacheco broke free for a 26-yard touchdown for his 10th career rushing score and the first touchdown in the first quarter given up by Ohio State in 2019.
- WR Bo Melton recorded a 45-yard receiving touchdown for his second score of the season.
- DB Tre Avery notched his first career sack, which forced a fumble recovered by Rutgers.
- QB Johnny Langan broke the goal line for his third rushing touchdown of the season. It was the second rushing touchdown of the game for Rutgers, as Ohio State entered the game with only three rushing touchdowns permitted in its first nine games.
- P Adam Korsak downed four attempts inside the 20-yard line, three inside the 10 and one inside the 5. He has now pinned 28 inside the 20 this season, 16 inside the 10 and eight inside the 5.
- Rutgers played its fourth ranked opponent of the season, tying for the most in a year.
- It was the sixth time hosting a top-two opponent.
