Three-game home stand concludes at the RAC
PISCATAWAY, N.J. (Nov. 12, 2019) - Rutgers women's basketball (3-0) hosts Harvard (3-1) on Sunday, Nov. 17 at 2 p.m. to conclude a three-game home stand at the RAC.
The Scarlet Knights are seeking their third consecutive 4-0 start to a season.
Following a 3-0 start, the Crimson dropped their first game of the season on Friday evening, 75-69, at La Salle despite a 14-point lead at halftime. Lola Mullaney and Colts Neck, New Jersey native is the reigning Ivy League Rookie of the Week after averaging 19.5 points per game during the Crimson's first two contests. Harvard was selected third in the Ivy League Preseason Media Poll and has finished in the top three of the Ivy League standings every year since the 2006-07 campaign. Senior forward Jeannie Boehm averages a double-double (11.8 points, 10.8 rebounds) through for games to lead a Harvard squad that averages a positive 9.8 margin in rebounding over its opponents.

CVS500: Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer C. Vivian Stringer, who won her 500th game as Rutgers' head coach in the season opener on Nov. 5, is one win away from tying UNC's Syliva Hatchell for fifth place all-time in NCAA women's basketball victories, and fourth place in Division I.
WIN FOR THE AGES: The Scarlet Knights defeated Coppin State, 107-33, on Saturday at the RAC home opener, scoring its most points in a game since 1989. The 107-point onslaught was also the most at the RAC since 1988 and the most by any Stringer-led team since her penultimate game at Cheyney State in 1983. In the victory, Rutgers made 12 three-pointers, a new RAC record and tying the program record from 2006.
AG B1G POW: Redshirt junior guard Arella Guirantes of Rutgers women's basketball was named the first Big Ten Player of the Week of the 2019-20 season on Monday. The weekly honor marks the fifth time the Scarlet Knights have been awarded a Big Ten Player of the Week since joining the conference for the 2014-15 season. The last Big Ten Player of the Week from Rutgers was Kahleah Copper four years ago on Nov. 16, 2015. Guirantes netted 44 points on 15-of-34 shooting (.441) to lead a historic week for the Rutgers offense. A well-rounded stat sheet for the week included 12 rebounds, four blocks, four assists and a steal in 44 minutes of action.
NEW-LOOK KNIGHTS: Rutgers women's basketball enters the 2019-20 season without four of the top five leaders in games started from last winter. The eight returning Scarlet Knights (seven letterwinners) make up 29 percent of last year's games started. The first three starting lineups with last year's number of starts in parentheses: Khadaizha Sanders (0 – missed season with injury), Arella Guirantes (21), Tekia Mack (2), Mael Gilles (9) and Jordan Wallace (0).
SPEAKING OF THE STARTERS: The aforementioned Sanders (16), Guirantes (17), Mack (21), Gilles (16) and Wallace (10) all scored in double-figures against Coppin State, marking the first time all five Rutgers starters scored in double-digits since Dec. 20, 2013. Mack scored 21 points in each game during Opening Week, earning the honor of Big Ten Player of the Week from a private selection process by College Sports Madness on Monday.
IN THE POLLS: Rutgers is receiving votes in both the AP (3) and ESPN/USA Today Coaches (4) Polls to start the season. The Scarlet Knights ranked as high as No. 14 last season (AP, Jan. 21).
HOME SWEET HOME: Since the 2002-03 season, the Scarlet Knights have gone 207-48 (.812) at the RAC. RU is 47-5 over the last two seasons at home and finished out 2018-19 at 13-2.
• Rutgers has held opponents to .205 shooting over the last two games, the best two-game FG% defense since 2015.
• The Scarlet Knights have held 33 of its last 35 opponents under their scoring average. Since the beginning of 2017-18, RU has held 61 of its last 66 opponents under their scoring average.
• All 10 Scarlet Knights receiving minutes vs. Niagara on Wednesday scored at least three points, and seven scored at least six.
