PISCATAWAY, N.J.  – Rutgers tennis returned to the win column with a 5-2 victory over Brown on Saturday evening at the East Brunswick Racquet Club. The Scarlet Knights claimed the team doubles point and four singles victories to move to 3-1 on the season.Â
"We have been fighting really hard in singles and doubles has been emphasized. It was great to see them put into action what we have been talking about and working on," said Head Coach
Hilary Ritchie. "This was an important win. The IVY League is always tough in our region. It was good for the ladies to come out and fight and finish like they did."
"We have such a long season we don't have time to worry about what happened last weekend. You get right back to it every single day," said sophomore
Maya Jacobs on the bounce back. "Each match is an opportunity for us to come out on top and think we are doing a good job of staying focused and moving forward."

DOUBLES PLAY
The Scarlet Knights quickly captured the doubles point with wins a the No. 3 and No. 2 spots.

The freshman duo of
Sydney Kaplan and
Kristiana Zahare first breezed to a 6-0 victory at the No. 3 position over opponents Alessandra Bianco and Juliana Simon.

JuniorÂ
Jaci Cochrane and Jacobs then captured the team point with a 6-1 win over Brown's Katie Ta and Sophie Reddy at the No. 2 spot.

SINGLES PLAY
Jacobs opened up singles play by cruising to a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Brown's Reddy at the No. 1 spot. Jacobs moved to 4-0 on the season at the No. 1 singles spot.

At the No. 6 spot, Zahare then added a 6-4, 6-3 win over the Bears' Bianco to extend the RU lead to 3-1.

Kaplan would clinch the match at the No. 4 position, earning a 6-3, 6-4 win against opponent Simon.
Junior
Kat Muzik tacked on a win at the No. 2 spot, fighting for a 7-5, 6-4 victory over Ryan Peus to give the Scarlet Knights a 5-2 margin.
