Rutgers' 4x800m Relay & Oniesha Clarke in the Long Jump Take Home Titles
PRINCETON, N.J. – The Rutgers women's track and field team had several Scarlet Knights in action this weekend with members of the squad split between the Fastrack Last Chance Invitational at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex and the Princeton Invitational at Jadwin Gymnasium.
RU's 4x800m relay team brought home the crown from the Fastrack Invitational as freshmen Reanda Richards, Brooke Riedy, Erin Bertscha and sophomore Emma Bergman put together their fastest time of the season with an ECAC qualifying 9:09.62.
Also at the Fastrack Invite, freshman Mackenzie Prezume was the runner-up in the 600m with a time of 1:35.61.
Six of the seven Scarlet Knight entries at the Princeton Invitational captured top eight finishes led by senior Oniesha Clarke taking first in the long jump. Clarke reached a season-best and ECAC qualifying distance of 5.97m (19' 6.25") in the event.
Freshman Zia Barr set a new personal best in the triple jump leaping to a distance of 11.42m (37' 5.75"). She bested her previous top distance of 11.36m (37' 3.25") set at the Valentine's Invitational last weekend.
Also in the jumps, sophomore Courteney Campbell and redshirt junior Rhonda Rogombe landed in second and third respectively. Campbell cleared the bar at 1.74m (5' 8.5") a new season best topping her previous high of 1.70m set at the Valentine's Invitational and Terrier Classic, both hosted by Boston University. The height was also .01m off tying her PR. Romgombe, meanwhile, cleared 1.63m (5' 4.25").
