Devine and Ewing Join Women’s Golf Signing Class

PISCATAWAY – Head Women's Golf Coach Kari Williams announced today that Leigha Devine and Nicole Ewing have completed the required paperwork to attend Rutgers University and compete as freshmen in 2019-20. Natives of Windsor, Colo., and Mesa, Ariz., respectively, the duo join a 2019 signing class that welcomed Maria Diederichs and Ffion Vineall in December.
"We are excited to add Leigha and Nicole to our 2019 class," said Williams. "They are great students and have shown a lot of potential on the golf course. Leigha and Nicole are both athletic golfers and I am looking forward to seeing how their games develop when they arrive "On the Banks."

Rutgers placed 10th with a 925 (310-305-310) total at the 17-team Lake Oconee Invitational, played this past weekend at Reynolds Lake Oconee Great Waters, to begin its spring season. The Scarlet Knights carded 167 pars and 16 birdies in cold and wet conditions in a tournament that included multiple teams ranked in the Golfweek Top 50. RU returns to the links at the River Landing Classic, March 4-5, in Wallace, N.C.
The Scarlet Knights completed the fall with a program-record Golfstat ranking of 86, while carding a program-best 299.80 scoring average. The team was also recognized as one of the nation's top 25 programs in academic performance by the WGCA for a second consecutive year.

- Ranked by Junior Golf Scoreboard as the 4th best golfer in Colorado's 2019 class.
- Fired a 69 (-3) at the Aurora Junior Championship to win by six strokes last summer (July 2018).
- Finished 28th in a field of 134, shooting 83-76-77-79 at the Optimist International Junior Golf Championship in West Palm Beach, FL (August 2018).
- Led her Fossil Ridge High School team in the state championship to a third-place finish, shooting a 74 (+2) in the final round to tie for 3rd individually; finished in 9th as a sophomore and tied for 8th as a freshman at the state championships.
Mesa, Ariz. (Red Mountain High School)
- Ranked 191st by Junior Golf Scoreboard in the Class of 2019
- Shot 72-73 to qualify for the IMG Junior World Golf Championship (June 2018)
- Tied for 6th (77-75) at the Maricopa Junior Championship (July 2018)
- T-8th (75-75) at Arizona high school state championship in 2017, 19th (82-75) in 2018.
