Women’s Golf Finishes First Day of Buckeye Invitational

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Rutgers women's golf wrapped up the opening day of the Buckeye Invitational on Friday in Columbus. With six ranked teams and five Big Ten programs in the field, Rutgers is ninth after play at the Ohio State University Golf Course.
Sophomores Judy Amano and Joline Truong are in the top 30 with one round left to play. Saturday's final round begins with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
The Scarlet Knights own a 44-over-par 620 (307-313) in the 16-team field. No. 36 Ohio State leads with a 13-over-par 589 (295-294), followed by No. 30 Kent State (+16) and No. 25 Iowa State (+17). Ohio State's Nellie Ong leads the 75-player field with a five-under-par 139 (69-70).
Day One – Friday, April 17
Weather: Sunny, Temps in the mid-70s, 5-10 mph winds
Amano opened Friday with a three-over-par 75, highlighted by birdies on holes nine and 16. Amano followed three birdies in the second round to finish the day tied for 28th. Truong also had two birdies in the opening round, carding back-to-back 77s to also tie for 28th.
Redshirt senior Grace Lu is 33rd with an 11-over-par 155. Junior Emily James is 42nd, while rookie Elizabeth Ryu is 70th to round out the team scorecard. Competing as an individual, junior Krystal Li is 50th rolling in four birdies across her two rounds.
