Tennis Earns Road Win at Seton Hall

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Rutgers tennis defeated Seton Hall, 5-2, on the road Sunday night. The Scarlet Knights collected the team doubles point and four singles matches for the victory.
"Today, the team came out with a lot of good energy right away starting with doubles," said Jaci Cochrane. "We got the doubles point and carried the energy into singles. Singles was really tight. The team as a whole had to be mentally tough and fight our way out of some really close matches."
RU improved to an overall record of 4-2, while SHU fell to 4-4 on the season.
DOUBLES ACTION
Rutgers captured doubles wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
At the No. 1 spot, junior Kat Muzik and freshman Tess Fisher registered a 6-2 victory over SHU's Anicka Fajnorova and Regina Pitts.
Sophomore Maya Jacobs and Cochrane posted a 6-1 win at the No. 2 spot over the Pirates' Thandy Kangwa and Minja Giligic.
SINGLES PLAY
Cochrane clinched the victory for the Scarlet Knights at the No. 5 position, recording a 6-3, 3-6, 6-0 win over Mekeila Erspamer.
At the No. 1 position, Jacobs added a team-leading fifth singles victory with a commanding 6-2, 6-1 win against Fajnorova. Jacobs owns a 5-1 singles record on the season.
Freshman Isabelle Da Silva captured a strong with at the No. 6 spot, topping Kangwa by a score of 6-2, 6-1.
Classmate Sydney Kaplan rallied a 6-7 (3), 6-4, 10-4 win at the No. 4 spot against Gligic.

Rutgers hosts Buffalo on Friday, March 1 for a 12:30 p.m. match at the East Brunswick Racquet Club.
