PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Rutgers men's lacrosse goalkeeper
Max Edelmann was named to the USILA Team of the Week, the organization announced on Tuesday afternoon. Edelmann was the lone goalkeeper to be recognized this week on the 10-member squad.
Edelmann had 18 saves in the 9-8 win over Princeton, including a stop in the final seconds to alow Rutgers to preserve their victory and raise the Meistrell Cup. The Middletown, Md. native set a career-high in saves and held the Tigers to well under their season average in scoring.
A team captain, the redshirt senior was also named the Big Ten Co-Specialist of the Week on Tuesday afternoon, alongside teammate
Garrett Bullett earning Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors. Edelmann is the first Rutgers player this season to be named to a USILA Team of the Week. Previously
Kieran Mullins earned national weekly recognition when he was named National Player of the Week by US Lacrosse after posting nine points in the win over St. John's.
Rutgers resumes action Tuesday night, hosting No. 16 Lehigh at 7 p.m. That game will be televised on the Big Ten Network. Tickets for the 2019 season are on sale through the Rutgers Ticket Office online or by calling 1-866-445-GORU (4678).
