Mar 19 | Women's Gymnastics
All-arounder currently holds 39.015 RQS
PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Sophomore Belle Huang of the Rutgers gymnastics team was named Second Team All-Big Ten, the league office announced. The all-arounder holds a Regional Qualifying Score (RQS) of 39.015 headed into Big Ten Championships.
"Belle has worked hard all season," head coach Umme Salim-Beasley said. "She pushes herself every day in practice and uses each meet as an opportunity to better her scores. She is so deserving of this honor."
Competing all-around in all 12 meets, Huang topped the 39-mark four times so far this season with a career-high 39.300 in the win over Penn State. That number is tied for sixth-best in Rutgers history. She has totaled a 39.075 in two of the last three outings.
Huang leads the Scarlet Knights with an RQS of 9.885 on floor exercise, ranked No. 52 nationally among 491 qualifiers, and 9.835 on balance beam. She has earned as high as 9.925 on both events, as that score is tied for the balance beam school record. In addition, the Maryland native holds an RQS of 9.750 on vault and 9.710 on uneven bars.
In her 48 routines this year, Huang has recorded a 9.700 or better 35 times, a 9.800 or better 18 times and owns five marks of at least 9.900.
Huang becomes the second RU gymnast to earn All-Big Ten recognition, joining Libby Groden (2017).
The Scarlet Knights will compete in the noon session of the Big Ten Championships, set for Saturday at Penn State. The meet will broadcast on Big Ten Network.
