Women’s Lacrosse Heads to No. 18 Johns Hopkins Saturday

Scarlet Knights look for first Big Ten Conference victory of 2019

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers women's lacrosse (5-5, 0-1) returns to Big Ten Conference action this weekend as it faces No. 18 Johns Hopkins (7-2, 0-0) on Saturday for a 1 p.m. showdown in Baltimore.

Last Time Out
Junior Samantha Budd scored a career-high eight goals – including the game-winner with less than a minute to go – as the Scarlet Knights defeated Lafayette, 16-15, on Tuesday in Easton, Pennsylvania.

With 48 seconds left and the score tied at 15, Budd raced past a host of Leopard defenders and buried her eighth goal of the day and second of the half to secure RU's fifth win of the season. Budd has now scored three or more goals in three of her last four outings, totaling 19 scores during that span.

Sophomore Taralyn Naslonski tallied three points on two goals and an assist, while senior Allie Ferrara, redshirt junior Dakota Pastore and freshman Marin Hartshorn each scored twice in the victory. Rookie Julia Lytle added two assists.

Scouting Johns Hopkins
The Blue Jays enter Saturday's contest after it defeated UMBC, 17-7, on Tuesday in Baltimore. Aurora Cordingley tied her career high with six points to lead the way in the out-of-conference victory.

Through nine games, Maggie Schneidereith leads Johns Hopkins in points (42) and goals (28) to go along with 14 assists. Miranda Ibello leads the team in helpers with 15, while Shelby Harrison has controlled a team-high 37 draw controls.

Haley Crosson has started all nine games in cage for the Blue Jays and owns 10.40 GAA with a .443 save percentage on 83 goals allowed and 66 saves.

Series History
Rutgers is 0-4 all-time against Johns Hopkins, which includes a tight 16-11 loss in last year's season-finale. A de facto play-in game for the 2018 Big Ten Tournament, RU outshot JHU, 36-32, secured 19 ground balls to the opponents' 14 and forced the Blue Jays into 10 turnovers in the back-and-forth affair. Then a rookie, Naslonski netted a then-career high six goals in the loss.

Within the Big Ten
Naslonski continues to appear towards the top of the conference on the offensive side, ranking second in points-per-game (4.78), second in goals-per-game (3.22) and third in assists-per-game (1.56). After her career day on Tuesday against Lafayette, Budd is seventh in points-per-game with a 3.44 average.
