
Women's T/F Captures Five Titles in Outdoor Opener at Bulls Invite

Scarlet Knights Take First in 1500m, 10000m, 400m Hurdles, 4x400m Relay & Javelin
TAMPA, Fla. - The Rutgers women's track and field team is coming back with five titles and 10 ECAC qualifying marks from their outdoor opener at the USF Bulls Invitational this weekend.
The Scarlet Knights captured first place performances from senior Jenna Sobieski in the 1500m, sophomore Olympia Martin in the 10,000m, freshman Reanda Richards in the 400m hurdles, sophomore Kathryn Campbell in the javelin and in the 4x400m relay.
Sobieski, who reached the finals of the 800m at the Big Ten Indoor Championships and set the second fastest time in the Rutgers record books, ran the 1500m to cross the finish line first in 4:41.32.
Martin opened her outdoor season leading the pack of the 10,000m with an ECAC qualifying mark of 35:27.01.
Richards, a New Balance outdoor 400m hurdle champion as a senior at West Essex High School, clocked in with the top time in the event with ECAC time of 1:00.25.
Richards also ran anchor on the winning 4x400m joining freshman Mackenzie Prezume, senior Phyllis Gordon and junior Arianne Strunkey for an ECAC time of 3:45.93.
Campbell, meanwhile, led the Scarlet Knights in the field events with an ECAC throw of 44.74m (146' 9") in the javelin.
Rutgers also had five runner-up performances with two Scarlet Knights logging new PRs.
Prezume took second in the 800m with a new personal best of 2:21.08, besting her previous top time of 2:21.08 set in January at the Penn 8 Team Select. Senior Halia Rosemond reached an ECAC qualifying throw of 43.20m (141' 9") in the discus, resetting her previous top distance of 41.39m (135'9") at the 2016 Big Ten Outdoor Championships.
Sophomore Courteney Campbell tied her PR in the high jump with her height of 1.75m (5' 8.75') as the runner-up in the event. She also cleared the bar at the same height at the Terrier Classic in January.
Also taking second place this weekend were junior Stephanie Mauer, who finished behind Martin in the 10,000m with a time of 36:39.11, and freshman Zia Barr with a triple jump distance of 11.22m (36' 9.75").
The Rutgers women's outdoor track and field team is back to action next weekend at the Florida Relays on Mar. 28-29.
