Women's Track & Field Competes at Florida Relays

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Rutgers women's track and field team is back to Florida this weekend to continue the outdoor season at the Florida Relays.
RECAPPING LAST TIME OUT
Rutgers opened the outdoor season at the USF Bulls Invitational with the Scarlet Knights bringing home five titles from the sunshine state.
The Scarlet Knights captured first place performances from senior Jenna Sobieski in the 1500m (4:41.32), sophomore Olympia Martin in the 10,000m (25:27.01), freshman Reanda Richards in the 400m hurdles (1:00.25), sophomore Kathryn Campbell in the javelin (44.74m) and in the 4x400m relay. The relay team included freshman Mackenzie Prezume, senior Phyllis Gordon, junior Arianne Strunkey and Richards on anchor.
RU also captured five runner-up performances including PRs by Prezume in the 800m (2:21.08) and senior Halia Rosemond in the discus (43.20m).
A CLOSER LOOK AT LAST WEEK'S RESULTS
Sophomore Courteney Campbell and redshirt junior Rhonda Rogombe are currently second and third respectively in the Big Ten in the high jump.
Campbell was the runner-up last weekend in the event at the Bulls Invite tying her PR with a height of 1.75m (8' 75"). She also cleared the same height at the Terrier Classic hosted by Boston University during the indoor season in January.
Rogombe, who holds the Rutgers indoor record in the event, finished behind Campbell in third with a height of 1.70m (5'7").
Reanda Richards' time of 1:00.25 in the 400m hurdles, meanwhile, is currently the fourth best time in the Big Ten and the third fastest time in the Scarlet Knight record book. The freshman who made her outdoor debut was a New Balance outdoor 400m hurdle champion during her senior year at West Essex High School.
In field events, sophomore Kathryn Campbell's mark of 44.74m (146' 9') in her first place finish in the javelin lands her in fifth among her peers in the Big Ten.
LAST TIME OUT AT THE FLORIDA RELAYS
A new Rutgers record was set at last year's Florida Relays. As the Scarlet Knight battled the elements and competed against a field that included seven nationally ranked programs, Lou Mialhe a new Scarlet Knight benchmark in the steeplechase with a time of 11:15.52 topping the previous record of 11:18.74 set by Danielle Patoir at the Larry Ellis Invitational in 2005.
Mialhe would later reset the record again at the Larry Ellis Invitational.
Individually, the Scarlet Knights saw a top 10 performances from Oniesha Clarke in the long jump. Clarke placed 10th in the long jump as the Waterbury, Connecticut product produced a distance of 5.78m.
Rutgers' distance medley relay squad posted an eighth place finish. The Scarlet Knight quartet of Kaitlyn Bragen, Dakota Gerges, Jenna Sobieski and Nadia Saponara combined for its top time of the season in 11:59.62.
