EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J.  – Rutgers tennis dropped a midweek match with No. 24 Northwestern, 7-0, on Wednesday afternoon at the East Brunswick Racquet Club.

DOUBLES PLAY
The Wildcats claimed a 1-0 lead in the match with the doubles point, taking wins at the No. 3 and No. 1 positions.

Jaci Cochrane and sophomore
Maya Jacobs were leading their opponents 5-4 before Northwestern clinched the point.

SINGLES PLAY
Three Scarlet Knights rallied to a decisive third set in singles action, but fell just short.Â

At the No. 4 spot, freshman
Sydney Kaplan posted a 7-5 win in the second set to push NU's Caroline Pozo into the third. Despite a tight battle, Pozo closed out the match with a 6-4 win.

Freshman
Tess Fisher bounced back from a 6-4, first-set loss to Lee Or with a commanding 6-2 win in the second set. However, in a back-and-forth rally, Or edged out a 6-4 win in the third at the No. 3 spot.

Jacobs put up a fight of her own at the No. 1 position. She took a 6-4 win in the first to start off against Clarissa Hand. After falling in the second, Jacobs rallied in the third, but she was ultimately edged.
