Reanda Richards Brings Home Another 400m Hurdle Title

Freshman Scarlet Knights Captures Fourth Title of 2019 Outdoor Season
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Rutgers women's track and field team appeared at the Virginia Challenge in Charlottesville and at Princeton's Larry Ellis Invitational for this weekend's competition.
At the Virginia Challenge, the nation's leader in the 400m hurdles, freshman Reanda Richards, picked up her fourth title of the outdoor season in the event. Richards logged a finish line time of 59.21 to take the crown.
Altogether, the Scarlet Knights captured six top eight performances in Charlottesville.
Also on the track, senior Jenna Sobieski claimed fifth place in the 800m in 2:08.36 and classmate Oniesha Clarke took sixth in the 100m in a time of 11.97. The steeplechase saw redshirt sophomore Lou Mialhe knock off 21 seconds off last week's time at the Metropolitan Championships and finish in fourth in 11:26.07.
The javelin squad, meanwhile, saw junior Kathryn Campbell throw of 45.43m (149' 0") for fifth and freshman Alexa Gardner reach 42.56m (139' 7") to finish eighth.
The Larry Ellis Invitational, down the road at Princeton University, saw four Scarlet Knight reach top eight status highlighted by a new PR by freshman Jasmine Van Note in the shot put.
Van Note threw for 13.64m (44' 9") in the shot put, bettering her previous personal best of 12.82m (42' 0.75") set at the Valentine's Invitational during the indoor season in February. Her distance landed her in fourth place.
Also leading the Scarlet Knights on the field was senior Halia Rosemond in the discus. Taking seventh in the event, Rosemond threw for 43.68m (143' 4").
Freshman Brooke Riedy placed sixth in the unseeded 800m flight racing to a time of 2:16.15.
Sophomore Kiera Nealon, meanwhile, clocked in at 4:44.25 in the unseeded section of the 1500m to take seventh.
The Rutgers women's track and field team returns to competition at the prestigious Penn Relays at Franklin Field held on April 25-27.
