KNIGHT NOTES
• Rutgers won five straight Big Ten games for the first time since April 20-24, 2016 at Maryland and at home against Indiana. With three wins at Penn State, the Scarlet Knights swept a Big Ten series for the first time since taking three against Indiana at home April 22-24, 2016. This was Rutgers' third Big Ten series sweep since joining the conference in 2015 and the first against Penn State as Big Ten opponents.

• Freshman catcher Katie Wingert was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week on April 15 after hitting three home runs and producing six RBIs in the Penn State sweep. Wingert becomes the Scarlet Knights' first Big Ten Freshman of the Week since Rebecca Hall on March 16, 2015 and Rutgers' first overall Big Ten weekly honoree since Stephanie Huang won Player of the Week on March 21, 2016. Three out of her last four home runs were of the go-ahead variety in wins at Ohio State and Penn State. The rookie is slashing .306/.390/.702 overall and leads the team with 14 RBIs in Big Ten games. Defensively, she has a .982 fielding percentage from behing the plate, and has thrown out nine runners with a 72% stolen base-allowed rate.

• Rutgers' victory over Ohio State on April 6 was its first since 2015. The triumph was Rutgers' highest RPI win – Ohio State was No. 33 at the time – since a 3-1 victory over Hofstra (RPI 33) on March 27, 2014. The win boosted Rutgers' RPI to No. 99, the first time RU has been in the Top 100 since April 12, 2015 (No. 70). RU currently has a No. 82 RPI ranking.

• Senior shortstop Jess Hughes is ranked seventh among the NCAA Division I softball active leaders in runs scored with 193. She also ranks eighth with 135 career walks drawn.

• In the 3-0 win at Penn State on Saturday, freshman pitcher Corah Price recorded Rutgers' first seven-inning one-hitter since Alyssa Landrith beat UTSA on Feb. 15, 2014. Price faced the minimum 21 batters in the masterpiece. The rookie leads the staff in innings (134.2), ERA (2.96), WHIP (1.10) and strikeouts (82). Price's nine strikeouts against Robert Morris was the program's most in a game since nine on March 18, 2016.

• First-year head coach Kristen Butler won her first game at the helm of the Scarlet Knights on Saturday, Feb. 9 against Jacksonville State. A former SEC Player of the Year and record-setting professional softball player in the United States and Japan, Butler has spent the last four seasons turning around the program as head coach at Toledo while earning the 2018 Mid-American Conference Coach of the Year honor.
