UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Rutgers women's lacrosse (5-11, 0-6) closed out the regular season with a 18-7 loss to RV Penn State (8-8, 3-3) on Saturday afternoon at Panzer Stadium in University Park. The Scarlet Knights won the draw control battle, 14-12, and forced nine Nittany Lion turnovers in the road defeat.
Senior
Amanda Romano and junior
Jordan Drab each produced two goals for RU, while redshirt junior
Dakota Pastore, sophomore
Julia Lytle and freshman
Marin Hartshorn all added scores in the loss. Senior
Tess Howland secured a game-high six draw controls and classmate
Devon Kearns registered eight saves off the bench.
Rutgers never relented after a tough first half, as it recorded a 4-2 scoring run out of the locker room. Rookie
Camryn Rogers found a cutting Romano for a score, Hartshorn converted and eight-meter attempt and Romano and Drab added scoring tallies to cut into the Penn State lead. However, the home squad would close out the win and the fourth seed in the Big Ten Conference Tournament with a 3-1 run.
The Scarlet Knights outshot Penn State, 13-11, had nine draw controls to PSU's two and stopped five shots in the second half to show solid effort down the stretch.
