Men’s T/F Set for Big Ten Outdoor Championships May 10-12

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers men's track and field is set for the 2019 Big Ten Outdoor Championships on May 10-12 at the University of Iowa.
Friday's competition is slated for a 1 p.m. start, Saturday a 10:30 a.m. start and Sunday a 12 p.m. start. A live stream of the three-day event will be provided by FloTrack and BTN Plus to coincide with live results. More information on the championship can be found here.

On Wednesday, May 15, at 7 p.m. ET, BTN will air the Big Ten Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
TRACK EVENTS TO WATCH
Entering the championship, senior Izaiah Brown ranks second in the league in the 400m with a time of 45.92 and fourth in the 200m with a result of 20.68.
The 4x400m relay team of Chris Jenkins, Sterling Pierce, Brown, and Taj Burgess sits second in the conference with the school-record outdoor time of 3:04.27 set earlier this season.
FIELD EVENTS TO WATCH
Graduate student Chris Mirabelli leads the Big Ten in the javelin with a throw of 72.30m (237' 2"). Following a redshirt season in 2018, Mirabelli looks to add to his 2016 and 2017 Big Ten javelin titles.
Pacing the jumpers, freshman A'nan Bridgett ranks second in the league in the long jump with a result of 7.72m (25' 4"). This indoor season, Bridgett claimed bronze in the long jump at Big Ten's.
Sophomore Malachi Davis follows in seventh in the long jump with a mark of 7.45m (24' 5.5"), while also ranking fifth in the triple jump with a result of 15.49m (50' 10"). Junior Perry Christie sits fifth in the conference in the high jump with a mark of 2.13m (6' 11.75").
Senior John Mooers ranks seventh in the discus with a throw of 56.45m (185' 2"), while junior Greg Harnett ranks sixth in the javelin with a 63.57m (208' 7") throw this season.
2018-19 BIG TEN INDOOR CHMAPIONSHIP REWIND
In February this season, the Scarlet Knights brought home multiple medals at the Big Ten Indoor Championships.
Brown claimed his fourth straight gold in the indoor 400m with a time of 45.82, becoming the first Scarlet Knight to earn four Big Ten titles in the same event.

Last season, Rutgers collected four medals at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships. Former Scarlet Knight Rudy Winkler captured gold in the javelin, Burgess claimed silver in the 400m, and former Scarlet Knight Matt Krezmer earned bronze in the javelin.
The 4x400m relay team of graduate Jermaine Griffith, Brown, Boaz Madeus, and Burgess finished second in the race.
Winkler led RU with First Team All-Big Ten accolades, while Griffith, Brown, Madeus, and Burgess all picked up Second Team All-Big Ten honors. For a full recap of the event, click here.
