As a Graduate Student (2018):
  •  Earned First Team All-America status in the hammer at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, finishing fourth in the nation with a toss of 72.74m (238' 8") (Jun. 6)
  • Named USTFCCCA Mid-Atlantic Region Field Athlete of the Year
  • Advanced to the NCAA Championships with a mark of 71.66m (235' 1") to finish third at the East Preliminary (May 24)
  • Qualified for the NCAA East Preliminary Championships as the No. 3 seed in the hammer throw
  • Won the Big Ten title in the hammer throw with a mark of 73.85m (242’ 3”), setting both a Rutgers and Big Ten Championship record and collecting First Team All-Big Ten accolades (May 11-13)
  • Finished fourth in the hammer throw with a mark of 70.41 (230’ 1”) at the Virginia Challenge (Apr. 20)
  • Claimed the hammer throw title with a mark of 71.59m (234’ 10”) to help guide RU to the 2018 Outdoor Metropolitan Championship title (Apr. 13)
  • Reset the Rutgers hammer throw record for second consecutive week with a throw of 72.02m (236’ 3”) at the Sam Howell Invitational (Apr. 6)
  • Named Big Ten Field Athlete of the Week following his performance at the Florida Relays (Apr 4), as his result ranked first in the Big Ten and fifth in the nation
  • Broke the Rutgers hammer throw record in his debut as a Scarlet Knight, registering a throw of 71.76m (235’ 5”) at the Florida Relays (Mar. 29-31)

Prior to Rutgers:

  • As a Junior (2015-16)
    Winkler finished his junior season by winning the 2016 United States Olympic Trials with a heave of 251’10” and competing in the 2016 Rio Olympics, where he finished 18th. Collegiately, he as the national runner-up in the hammer throw and earned All-America honors for the second straight year and. Winkler, the Northeast Region Field Athlete of the Year, also won the hammer throw at the Ivy League Championships by over 25 feet (246’5”) and was named First Team All-Ivy and MVP of Field Events. Indoors, he took the weight throw title at Heps - and was named First Team All-Ivy - and advanced to the NCAA Championships, where he finished 10th and earned first-team All-American status. He also earned USTFCCCA All-Academic and Academic All-Ivy Honors.
  • As a Sophomore (2014-15)
    Winkler’s outstanding performance as a thrower earned him First Team All-American honors in what was his freshman year of eligibility. He placed eighth overall in NCAA Championships in the hammer, and a few days later, broke the school record he had set at the NCAAs with a throw of 230 feet, 10 inches at the Amity Throwers meet. Winkler was also the only Ivy League athlete who qualified to compete in the hammer throw at the prestigious USA Track & Field Outdoor Championships. He was also the outdoor Ivy League champion in the hammer with a 218’ throw and took the league’s indoor title in the weight, with a throw of 68’ 0.5”, another school record.  He was named MVP of the field events at the league’s indoor championships. In addition to his stellar year in the field, he also earned USTFCCCA All-Academic and Academic All-Ivy honors.
  • As a Freshman (2013-14)
    Winkler participated in two weight throw events in his debut campaign. He took 1st place in the weight throw with a toss of 60’ 7.75” at the Greg Page Relays. His other competition came at the Armory Collegiate Invitational where he took 11th place with a season best throw of 61’ 3.5”.
