PISCATAWAY, N.J. -Â Rutgers field hockey had six players selected for the roster of the 2019 Young Women's National Championship.Â
Gianna Glatz,
Alanna Gollotto,
Gianna Mancini,
Abby Regn,
Kassidy Shetler and
Clayre Smith were selected for participation. Glatz, Gollotto and Shetler are repeat selections, also being named to the roster in 2018.Â

Spooky Nook Sports, the Home of Hockey, in Lancaster, Pa., from June 14-18. The YWNC is an annual event featuring 144 elite female field hockey athletes, including for the first time the 2019 U.S. U-19 Women's National Team along with top collegiate and post-collegiate players. Over the spring, select athletes tried out and trained at USA Field Hockey High-Performance Centers throughout the country for an opportunity to earn a spot in the tournament that is the next step on the Olympic Development Pathway. These teams will face off for the prestigious title of national champions and for an opportunity to be selected to the 2020 U.S. U-21 Women's National Team and U.S. Women's National Development Team, or a trial for the U.S. Women's National Team.
Glatz was named First Team All-Big Ten and First Team All-Region last season after posting a 13-6 record as RU's starting goalkeeper. The Medford, N.J. native held a 1.27 goals-against-average, a .785 save percentage and started in nine shutouts. Glatz led the Big Ten and was fifth in the nation in save percentage. A product of Shawnee HS, Glatz is majoring in Psychology.Â
Gollotto has started in all 54 of her career games, spending her first two seasons at back before moving to forward last season. The Voorhees, N.J. native has scored three goals and added six assists for her career. The Eastern Regional product is majoring in public health.Â
Mancini enters her junior year having accumulated 13 starts at midfield in 35 games. She has scored six goals and added an assist for 13 career points. The Medford, N.J. native is majoring in public health.Â
Regn became a full-time starter from the beginning of last season, starting all 19 games in her freshman campaign. The Shamong, N.J. native had four defensive saves on the season, including one in the NCAA Tournament.Â
Shetler has started in 27 of 37 games over her first two seasons as a Scarlet Knight, playing forward and midfield. The Ramsey, N.J. native has scored six career goals with one assist, and is majoring in finance and accounting.Â
Smyth recently concluded her first season at Rutgers, sitting out the season as a transfer from Penn State, where she played in eight games in 2017. The Honesdale, Pa. native, who is set to make her Scarlet Knights' debut this fall, is majoring in public policy.Â
"With eight teams split across two balanced pools," said Phil Edwards, USA Field Hockey's Senior Manager of Junior High Performance. "This year's tournament will feature more games that matter and more moments when the chance to play for a medal is on the line. It promises to be a great five days of competition at Spooky Nook Sports."
