Jun 27 | Men's Soccer
PISCATWAY, N.J. – Rutgers men's soccer announced its 2019 schedule with seven regular season contests this fall at Yurcak Field, including Big Ten matchups with national semifinalist Michigan State, as well as Ohio State, Wisconsin and Penn State.
"The 2019 schedule will challenge our group in many different ways," said Scarlet Knight head men's soccer coach Jim McElderry, who begins his first season "On The Banks". "We will be a young group this fall and I look forward to seeing how we develop throughout the year and deal with these opponents. The Big Ten is the most competitive conference in the country and we cannot wait to compete at this level. I am also looking forward to having the Rutgers and New Jersey community come out and support our program. We will be a team the state and alumni can be proud of supporting."
Prior to the regular season kicking off, the Scarlet Knights will take part in a pair of preseason matches with Connecticut (Aug. 18) at Yurcak Field and a short trip to Monmouth (Aug. 24).
The regular season gets underway with a trio of road games with Rutgers traveling to Temple (Aug. 30), Drexel (Sept. 2) and Elon (Sept. 7).
The home schedule opens up with the Scarlet Knights hosting Binghamton (Sept. 10) followed by a meeting with Manhattan (Sept. 14).
September continues with a road matchup with Pennsylvania (Sept. 17) and the Big Ten opener at conference runner-up and NCAA second round participant Michigan (Sept. 21).
Rutgers will return home for four of its next five games. September closes with a pair of home games as the Scarlet Knights welcome St. Peter's (Sept. 24) and NCAA semifinalist Michigan State (Sept. 27) before heading out onto the road to play national champion Maryland (Oct. 2). After taking on the Terps, RU makes its way back to Yurcak Field to host Ohio State (Oct. 6) and Wisconsin (Oct. 11).
The 2019 schedule continues with four dates on the road with Rutgers heading to Hartford (Oct. 15), Northwestern (Oct. 19), Big Ten Champion and national semifinalist Indiana (Oct. 25) and the nonconference finale at Lehigh (Oct. 29)
The Scarlet Knights round out the regular season meeting Penn State (Nov. 3) at home.
The Big Ten Tournament will take place on the weekends of Nov. 9-17.
Admission for Rutgers men's soccer home games at Yurcak Field is free and parking is free with registration.
