PISCATAWAY - The Big Ten Conference announced its 2019-20 women's golf preseason honorees on Wednesday, with juniors Harriet Allsebrook and Carrie-Ann Lee and sophomore Maeve Rossi earning recognition. It marks the third consecutive season that Lee has received the honor.
The trio all earned Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Division I All-America Scholar honors in 2018-19, while Allsebrook and Lee were both Big Ten Conference Distinguished Scholars. The team was recognized as one of the nation's top 25 programs in academic performance by the WGCA for a third consecutive year. The Scarlet Knights maintained a 3.781 team grade point average to place first among all Power 5 conference women's golf programs and eighth among Division I schools.
On the course, the Scarlet Knights concluded last season ranked 84th in the nation with a 300.07 scoring average to establish a new program record.
Allsebrook, a team co-captain, carded a career and program low nine-under par 207 (67-70-70) to win the Juli Inkster Meadow Club Invitational in March. She averaged 73.67 over fifteen rounds and six events in the spring and led the team at Big Ten Championships with a 145 (74-71) to tie for 11th.
Lee maintained a 75.80 scoring average for the 2018-19 season. She started in all six events in the spring and tied for eighth with a 224 (74-75-75) at Murray State's Jan Weaver Invitational in April.
Rossi has a 75.20 scoring average last season, a program-record for a freshman. She posted a one-over 73 in final round of Big Ten Championship and tied for 8th with a one-over par 217 (71-74-72) en route to a team victory at the Juli Inkster Meadow Club Invitational in March. She had five top 20 finishes in 11 events as a rookie.
Under head coach Kari Williams, Rutgers hosts the seventh annual Unger-DeBlasio Cup at the Rutgers University Golf Course on Sept. 13 before travelling to Kansas State to open its season Sept. 15-16 at the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational.
