TEAM NOTES
  • As part of the year-long celebration of the 150th anniversary, Rutgers celebrated the legacy of Paul Robeson during today's game. His granddaughter Susan served as an honorary team captain, his accomplishments were highlighted with in-venue videos and the Rutgers Marching Band performed a special halftime show in tribute.
  • Rutgers recognized the 1970 national champion sprint medley relay team on the field during a first quarter media timeout. Coached by the late Les Wallach and sparked by Tom Ulan's lead-capturing burst in the opening 440, the team won the National AAU Championships at Madison Square Garden on Feb. 27, 1970. Ulan got the lead in the 440 leg and his teammates held it the rest of the way. John Herma ran the 100, Jim Smith the 220 and Bob Kerr the anchor 300. Rutgers won the event, which included some Olympians, by three yards with a winning time of 1:53.4.
  • Rutgers recognized its 2018-19 special award winners on the field during a second quarter media timeout.
