No. 21/13 Women's Soccer Set for Matches Against Hofstra and Princeton

PISCATAWAY, N.J. –  No. 21/13 Rutgers women's soccer wraps up a five-game homestand by hosting Hofstra on Thursday, Sept. 5. Match time is set for 7 p.m. ET at Yurcak Field.
 
The Scarlet Knights then travel to Princeton for its first road contest of the year on Saturday, Sept. 7. Kickoff is slated for 8 p.m.

Thursday's match marks Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer night. Rutgers teamed up with Go4theGoal for its mission to improve the lives of children battling cancer by providing financial support, developing and implementing unique hospital programs, funding innovative research, and granting personal wishes. RUTGERS QUICK KICKS
  • Rutgers (4-0, 0-0 Big Ten) picked up 1-0 victories over then-No. 11 Tennessee on Thursday and Providence on Sunday.
  • Sophomore Meagan McClelland was named the Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Week after posting two shutouts, recording four saves across the two clean sheets. McClelland has three clean sheets this season and 11 in her career.
  • Senior forward Brittany LaPlant recorded the game winner in the 1-0 defeat of the Vols, as RU led shots 15-7 on the night.
  • In the 1-0 win over the Friars, freshman midfielder Julia Aronov added the goal to become the fifth different Scarlet Knight to score this season.
  • RU jumped back into the United Soccer Coaches Poll at No. 21 following its 4-0 start on the year. The Scarlet Knights are also ranked No. 13 by Top Drawer Soccer and No. 11 by Soccer America.
 SCOUTING HOFSTRA
  • Hofstra (2-2, 0-0 CAA), the back-to-back Colonial Athletic Association champions, has picked up wins over Monmouth and Fordham on the year.
  • The Pride's two losses were to then-No. 6 Penn State and Brown.
  • Lucy Porter leads the team with five goals this season, including the two game winners.
  • In net, Skylar Kuzmich has seen the most time, registering a 2.38 GAA and 12 saves.
  • Rutgers leads the series with Hofstra, 3-0. The most recent meeting was in 2015 for the NCAA Tournament Second Round, when RU won 2-0 at home.
 SCOUTING RV/25 PRINCETON
  • Princeton (1-1, 0-0 Ivy League) opened its season with a 1-0 win over Saint Joseph's and 2-1 loss to Boston College.
  • The Tigers enter 2019 as back-to-back Ivy League champions and are receiving votes in the latest United Soccer Coaches Poll.
  • Grace Sherman and Caroline Noonan have each recorded a goal on the year.
  • In net, Natalie Grossi owns a 1.00 GAA, .750 save percentage and six saves.
  • Rutgers paces the all-time series against Princeton, 17-8-3. The team's last met in 2015, when RU won 3-0 on the road.
