Meet 2: Gymnastics Set for Home Opener on Saturday

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers gymnastics returns to the RAC for its 2020 home opener on Jan. 18. The quad meet featuring Minnesota, Bowling Green and Ursinus is set for a 2 p.m. ET start.

All home meets at the RAC and College Avenue Gym are free in 2020. For free parking, fans are asked to complete a one-time online registration. Once completed access is available for all dates and locations of Rutgers' home meets. Fans can register by clicking here (PDF).
Saturday's home opener is princess and superhero day which will include a giveaway of capes and tiaras to the first 200 kids in attendance.
Rutgers travels to Michigan on Friday, Jan. 24 for its first Big Ten dual meet of the year.

- Rutgers opened the 2020 season at Arizona in a quad meet featuring then-No. 13 Arizona, then-No. 11 Western Michigan and Iowa State.
- RU's team score of 194.250 marked the highest season-opening score since 2014, topping the ranked Broncos with the mark. It stands as the third highest opening score in program history.
- Junior Belle Huang and freshman Hannah Joyner tied for the all-around title in the quad meet, posting identical 38.900 marks.
- In her first-ever collegiate event, Joyner posted a 9.900 on beam to claim the event title as well. Her mark came as the second highest in RU history on the event, moving into a tie for fourth in the record books.
- Huang, a 2019 National qualifier on floor, led the way with a 9.800 on floor.
- Senior Kaitlyn Hall paced the Scarlet Knights on vault with a mark of 9.725.
- On bar, senior Shannon Farrell and Huang registered a team-high 9.750.
- RU ranks No. 33 in this week's Road to Nationals standings, as the top 36 teams qualify for NCAAs. Joyner's 9.900 on beam is tied for 14th in the nation.
