Tennis Travels to Rhode Island for Pair of Matches

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers tennis takes a weekend trip to Rhode Island to compete against Brown on Saturday, Feb. 1 at 12 p.m. and University of Rhode Island on Sunday, Feb. 2 at 1 p.m. Sunday's match with URI will be played at the International Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, Rhode Island.

- Rutgers (2-0, 0-0) opened its season with a 6-1 victory over Army at home on Friday and a 4-3 road win over Drexel on Saturday.
- Senior Jaci Cochrane displayed dominance in both singles and doubles during the first two matches allowing only four points total to be scored on her during singles play across both matches.
- Sophomore Kristiana Zahare and junior Maya Jacobs provided key singles wins over Army and Drexel, respectively, to clinch the wins for the Scarlet Knights.
| SCOUTING BROWN |
- The Bears split their season opener at the Dartmouth Invitational, 1-1, against Binghamton and Dartmouth.
- Brown swept Binghamton 7-0 on the first day of the invitational. Five of the six singles matches were won in straight sets.
- During the 2019 season, the Scarlet Knights bested the Bears, 5-2, in New Jersey.

- Rhode Island opened their season at Boston College with a 7-0 loss.
- The lone URI victory of the day went to the doubles pair of Nadia Rajan and Paulina Loredo.
- Head Coach Val Villucci returned to URI in June 2019. Coach Villucci previously served as the head coach 1993-2004 and 2009-2015.
