Men’s T/F Claims Sixth Straight Metropolitan Indoor Championship

Women finish second in the field for third straight season in Top 3
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – Rutgers men's track and field claimed its sixth straight Metropolitan Indoor Championship title on Friday at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex. On the women's side, Rutgers placed second, marking the third straight year finishing in the Top 3. The Scarlet Knights recorded 14 event titles and 31 Top 3 finishes overall.
Junior Taj Burgess led the way with two event titles, winning the 200m (21.17) and 500m (1:02.83). Sophomore Andrew Daniluk won the 60m hurdles with an 8.34 time, while classmate Nadale Buntin finished first in the 400m with a 48.37. Junior Eric Barnes won the 800m with a time of 1:53.67. RU collected titles in the 4x400m, 4x800m and distance medley relays as well.
In the mile, Rutgers went 1-2-3 with junior Billy Hill pacing the field (4:12.75). Classmate Patrick Walsh followed in second (4:13.43), while senior Cole Pschunder rounded out the top 3 (4:14.90).
Rutgers captured the top two spots in the high jump with junior Perry Christie finishing first (2.10m) and sophomore A'nan Bridgett finishing second (1.99m). Senior Jarrod Brovero won the pole vault (4.65m) to round out the event titles on the men's side.
Sophomore Reanda Richards clocked a time 1:13.44 in the 500m to place first in the event. Junior Olympia Martin finished first in the 5000m with a time of 17:21.28, while senior Stephanie Mauer finished third with a time of 17:47.06.
In the distance medley relay, the quartet of Kiera Nealon, Dakota Gerges, Kayla Rosario, and Martin placed first with a result of 12:01.20. RU finished second in the 4x400m and 4x800m relays.
Junior Courteney Campbell registered a mark of 1.75m in the high jump to take the title. The Scarlet Knights took third in the triple jump and shot put, as sophomore Zia Barr registered a 11.76m leap and sophomore Jasmine Van Note a 14.46m throw, respectively.
Rutgers travels to Notre Dame for the Meyo Invitational slated for Feb. 7-8.
