PISCATAWAY - The Big Ten Conference today announced the conference schedule for the 2020-21 men's basketball season. The No 24 Scarlet Knights' opponents are listed below.
The full release from the conference can be found here. Previously, it was announced that Rutgers will host Syracuse on Tuesday, December 8 in the Big Ten - ACC Challenge. Rutgers' non-conference schedule, along with television network designations and start times will be announced at a later date.
For the first time in 42 years, Rutgers is ranked in the preseason, coming in at No. 24 in the AP poll. RU was picked to finish fifth in the league by members of the media.
The Scarlet Knights return 80 percent of their scoring and 81 percent of their rebounding from last season. Geo Baker (preseason All-Big Ten, Bob Cousy Award Watch List) and Ron Harper Jr. (Julius Erving Award Watch List) have earned preseason accolade recognition.
Rutgers welcomes back 11 letterwinners from last season and is buoyed by the addition of four new freshmen. Last season, RU posted its first winning season in 14 years, secured the most home regular season wins in the nation (18), and also set a program record for home victories. The Scarlet Knights tied for fifth in the Big Ten Conference. As a result, RU earned its first opening round bye in a conference tournament in 25 years, since the 1995 Atlantic 10 Championship, and was poised to secure its first NCAA Tournament berth since 1991.
