PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers men's and women's cross country teams were named All-Academic Teams for the 2019 season by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA)
. The women registered a 3.39 team grade point average, while the men maintained a 3.24 team GPA to be recognized.
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period.Overall, there were 191 men's teams and 236 women's teams that received the recognition from USTFCCCA.
Additionally, 17 Scarlet Knights from the cross country programs were named Academic All-Big Ten in Fall 2019. The women led the way with 11 honorees, including
Emma Bergman, Erin Bertscha, Kelsey Farbanish, Sara Gutter, Alexandra Marko, Olympia Martin, Kiera Nealon, Brooke Riedy, Kayla Rosario, Nadia Saponara, and
Chloe Wong. The men's honorees included
Will Berger, Andrew Comito, Cole Pschunder, Chris Smith, Peter Tilton, and
Patrick Walsh.
Tilton, a sophomore computer science major, stood out with a flawless 4.0 GPA last semester.
