Salim-Beasley joins Big Ten Network in Celebration of Black History Month

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers gymnastics head coach Umme Salim-Beasley joined the Big Ten Network in celebration of Black History Month. The network sat down African American head coaches in Olympic sports to discuss a variety of topics about black history, culture, athletics and their personal stories and journey.
"I am so grateful for the opportunity to represent Rutgers at the very first Big Ten roundtable discussion in honor of Black History Month," said Salim-Beasley. "Sitting alongside such a distinguished group of coaches to discuss our journey of becoming African American head coaches in the Big Ten was an historic moment.
"I appreciate the openness and honesty that everyone had. It was clear that we all have a passion for what we do and are enjoying paving a path for others to follow. I look forward to seeing this expand in the coming years!"
This featured segment will air as part of the B1G Show on Thursday's in February at approximately 9pm CT/10pm ET following that night's basketball game. Portions of the discussion will air throughout the month during the show.
