The 2009 Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame inductee is up for another Hall alongside Mike Trout and Eli Manning
PISCATAWAY, N.J. (June 10, 2020) – Rutgers women's basketball head coach C. Vivian Stringer is one of 50 final nominees for the New Jersey Hall of Fame Class of 2020, which is now open for a fan vote to select the newest members of the prestigious club.
Coach Stringer joins two other Rutgers Athletics personalities as nominees in the sports category, including another famous women's basketball name. Sue Wicks – the RU women's basketball program's all-time leading scorer – and pioneering former Athletic Director Bob Mulcahy join Stringer as nominees to the state's Hall of Fame.
Baseball superstar Mike Trout, two-time Super Bowl champion Eli Manning, "Good Times" actor John Amos, and film star Danny Aiello are among other nominees.
The nominees span five categories: arts and letters, enterprise, sports, public service and performing arts, with 10 possible inductees in each group.
To vote, visit njhalloffame.org. The voting period runs until the end of June with a winner to be announced in mid-July. The public vote is only one factor in deciding who joins the hall's 12th class. The Hall also considers availability to be inducted. The top vote in each category is inducted automatically, while the Hall committee decides the remaining inductees based on votes and committee guidelines.
The New Jersey Hall of Fame hosted its first induction ceremony in 2008. For the first time, the Hall has plans to inhabit a physical home inside the American Dream complex in East Rutherford, slated for a 2021 opening.
