2021 Wrestling Season Preview Press Conference: Head Coach Scott Goodale

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers wrestling head coach Scott Goodale met with the media to preview the 2021 season. The "Inside Rutgers Athletics Podcast" is presented by RWJBarnabas Health.
Ranked No. 10 by FloWrestling and No. 15 in the preseason NWCA Coaches Poll, the Scarlet Knights begin their season Friday when it hosts No. 2/3 Michigan at the RAC on BTN (7 p.m.). The six-date, nine event calendar features four Big Ten Conference duals, one Big Ten Conference tri-meet and one Big Ten Conference quad.
Rutgers enters the 2021 season with plenty of hype. Ten Scarlet Knights are featured in preseason rankings, as RU looks qualify five or more wrestlers for the NCAA Championships for the seventh consecutive season under Goodale. Rutgers returns four student-athletes – No. 20/20 Nicolas Aguilar and No. NR/6 Sammy Alvarez, No. 14/NR Billy Janzer and Michael VanBrill – who qualified for nationals last season, as well as 2020 Big Ten Champion and No.1/4 Sebastian Rivera, who transferred to Rutgers after a standout collegiate career at Northwestern.
