PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Rutgers men's basketball team announced on Thursday morning that two more home games are sold-out for the 2021-22 season.
The non-conference games against Merrimack (Saturday, Nov. 13) and NJIT (Tuesday, Nov. 16) have been called as sell outs, meaning Rutgers has now sold out a program record of 12 consecutive games dating back to the 2019-20 season.
Rutgers men's basketball has also sold-out of tickets for the season opener against Lehigh on Wednesday, Nov. 10. Head coach Steve Pikiell made the announcement during his opening statement at the program's local media day.
The men's basketball program has also already called five conference games sold-out for this season. The games against Maryland (Tuesday, Jan. 25th), Wisconsin (Saturday, Feb. 26th,), Penn State (Sunday, March 6th), Michigan (Tuesday, Jan. 4) and Michigan (Saturday, Feb. 5) have all been called sell outs.
For any season ticket holders that did not already get a chance to request tickets to the NJIT game, the Rutgers ticket office will extend the opportunity to claim tickets to the Lafayette game, which is also a Healthcare Hero game.
Some other ticketing notes for Rutgers students to consider are that the student section is now officially sold-out for Lehigh, Merrimack, NJIT, Clemson and Lafayette games.
For students to attend these five games there are additional tickets available for students on a first come, first serve basis the night of the event. The ticket window will open 60 minutes prior to tip-off. The student ticket claim will open for Dec. games on Nov. 17, which includes matchups against Purdue, Rider, Central Connecticut State and Maine.
The team's success on the court has garnered great interest from the fan base. The program has sold over 5,000 season tickets with nearly 1,000 new season ticket holders added since the 2019-20 season.
With several games already sold-out, tickets are moving fast. Fans are encouraged to act fast to secure tickets, with especially low availability for games against Nebraska and Ohio State.
Fans still looking for tickets to sold-out games can do so via StubHub, the official fan-to-fan ticket marketplace of the Scarlet Knights. Season ticket and multi-game packages are still available for purchase. Student tickets will be available to claim at a later date.
Pikiell has completed a tremendous rebuild of the Rutgers program, as the Scarlet Knights are coming off of the program's first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1991. Rutgers defeated No. 7 seed Clemson for the team's first NCAA Tournament victory in 38 years, dating back to 1983. Rutgers has had back-to-back winning seasons for the first time since 1990-91 and 1991-92 and won double-digit conference games in consecutive seasons for the first time since 1989-90 and 1990-91.
